This tutorial is for a bow like the one on the above image. It turns out different everytime I do it. I hope you get the results you want .*smile* You can make it any color or transparency you like.

1. Right click on the following image and save to a folder of your choice. I drew this freehand and you are of course welcome to do the same if you would rather. Open the file in PSP. Also open a new image sized 300 by 300 and copy and paste the bow selection onto the new blank image as a new layer.Use your magic wand to select the white portions and clear them by pressing the "delete " button on your keyboard so that you have a transparent canvas with just the black outline. For the tutorial images I have used a very simple box and color scheme so it is easy to see but obviously you can decorate your box and place in on a wonderful background. *smile*
2. Chose a darker color that compliments whatever you will be putting your bow on. Using the magic wand tool click on the black outline and flood fill it with your dark color. You may need to adjust the tolerance levels to make the flood fill work on the outline. Here's a tip from Jane for an easy way to select an object.Draw a box around it with the selection tool and then click inside the box. This will select the object for you .
3. Still using the magic wand click inside the top portion of the bow. Now holding down the shift key, click inside the bottom portion of the bow. Leaving the selections active make a new raster layer and then flood fill both sections with a lighter shade of the color you filled the outline in. Go up to "selections" and chose "select none". Now you go to the layer palette and adjust the transparency of the filled area to give the bow a gauzy look.I have not adjusted it in the image below so that it stays easy to see.. Go to "layers" up on the top tool bar and chose "Merge visible"
4. Go back to the layer palette, right click on the merged layer and chose "duplicate". Duplicate 5 more times so you have 7 layers in all
5.Activate the layer directly above the original layer and chose the deformation tool. Hold your mouse over the little square to the right of the middle square and tilt the bow section until it is slightly above the original. See the images below.
6. Continue this step with each of the layers, placing each one slightly above the previous one. The fourth one should be in right in the middle tilted straight up. Play around with the placement of each section till you get the look you want...As you can see the pink bow here looks a bit different than the one in the image at the top of the page.
7. The last ones will show off the canvas. Don't worry..*smile*. Once you have them all placed you will move them over to the left of the canvas...starting with the very first one and moving each one over in order. Now go to "layers" and chose "merge visible" It is now ready to place on top of your box . Place it as a new layer underneath your box or whatever you are decorating. Now is a good time to use the deformation tool to resize the bow to fit. Don't forget to sharpen it after.
8. Okay, now for the ribbon on the side. Add a new raster layer. Use the selection tool set on "rectangle". Make a narrow rectangle the length of the box in the middle.Chose your lighter color and flood fill the rectangle. Adjust the transparency to the same as on your bow.
9. Ad another new raster layer. Change to your dark color and using the draw tool set to "single line ", width to "2" make a line down each side of your rectangle. And........ you are done !!!!
