| 1. Right click and save the above image or chose one of your own. Open the image you want to "frame". Press the shift key and then "D" key two times so that you have two copies of your image. Close the original one. Activate one of your copies and go to "Effects", "Texture Effects" and chose "Mosaic Glass". Apply using these settings,
| 2. Now go to "Colors" and "Adjust brightness/contrast". Set brightness to "15" and contrast to "0". Now go to "Effects", "Blur" and apply "Gaussian Blur" with radius set to "1.00" |
| 3.Now activate your other copy of the image. Go up to Masks and "Load from disk" and apply the diamond mask you downloaded above..or the mask of your choice.Go back to Mask and choose "delete" when the box comes up asking if you want to merge the mask say "yes".
<
| 4. Select your magic wand tool and set the tolerance to "200". Click on the masked image. The outline of your mask should now be selected. Now if you are using the diamond mask I provided you will want to modify the selection. You do this by going up to "Selections". Choose "modify" then "contract". In the box that opens up put in "15". If you have chosen a different mask you may or may not have to modify and you may want to modify it a different number of pixels. It will depend on how much of a faded edge the mask you are using has. We want the "marching ants" to be inside the faded edge if the mask has one.See the image below.
| 5.Leave the selection active and go up to "Effects", 3D Effects and chose drop shadow. Apply using the following settings.
| 6. Now apply drop shadow again and just change the vertical and horizontal settings from 2 to -2. Go up and chose "Select none" under "Selections".
| 7.Right click on the top bar of the masked image and chose "copy" . Go to the first image,(the blurred one) and click on the top bar and chose "Paste as new layer". Your image should now look like this.
| 8.Go up to Layers and chose "Merge all". You are now ready to frame your masterpiece. *smile*. Make your foreground and background colors black on your color palette and go up to "Image" and "Add borders". Set all to 5 pixels. Add another border 15 pixels using foreground and background colors set to a light green. I used #A3B688.
9.Select the magic wand tool. Set tolerance to 100 and click on the light green border. Now we use the Paint Engine plugin with these settings..
| If you do not have Paint Engine you could finish this up in a number of ways..feel free to play ...LOL. Hope you learned something new or at least had some fun !
