Okay, here we go...*grin* and I promise it isn't too hard. By the way, this tutorial is copyrighted to me but your results are of course, all yours ! *smile*

1. Open a new image size 400 X 400 with a transparent background. Flood fill with a dark color. I am using black for the purposes of this tutorial but you can use any dark color that matches the item you want to spotlight.
2. Add a new raster layer and name it "floor".Chose a color for your spotlight. This should be a lighter color to match the item you will be spotlighting. I will use white.
3.Using the preshapes tool select eclipse with the following settings.
4.Make an eclipse near the bottom and to the right of your image, see below.
5.With the "floor" layer still active go to Blur and chose "soften", then to Blur again and chose "gaussian blur" set at 2.00
6.Open a new raster layer. Name it "light". Using the preset shapes tool, make an triangle. Start in the very top upper left corner and drag to the bottom of the image. See below.
7.Select the deform tool. Using the deform tool angle and rotate the triangle so that it widens slightly at the top and so that one of the corners matches with the edge of the eclipse on the floor. See below.
8.Now you will need to use the erase tool to clean up the edges.First open the layer palette and fade the "light " layer down until you can see the eclipse through it.I zoom in too so I can see easier. Carefully erase the overhanging edges of your triangle to match up with the edges of the eclipse. See erase setting below.
9.Now with "light" layer active, use the same Blur settings you used on the eclipse back in step 5.
Open the layer palette again and go to the layer named "light". You need to fade this layer until you are happy with the way it looks. I used 50%. See below.
10. Now you are ready to add the item you want to "spotlight". Add another raster layer and name it image. You can place your image layer above or below the "light" layer. It is a matter of preference and will depend on the colors you have chosen and the image you are spotlighting. Here I have chosen above. Now it just a matter of placing your item in the spotlight and merging all layers. Don't forget to add your shadowing first and "voila" you are done !

I hope this tutorial has been clear and easy to follow. It is the first time I have ever done one. If I missed anything or you need help please just e-mail me.
